Likelihood of suspension of all clinical teaching within HA compounds

To: MBBS Junior Clerkship Students

Dear Students,

The Hospital Authority Head Office (HAHO) convened an emergency meeting with the two medical schools today regarding undergraduate teaching activities in light of the recent COVID-19 development in HK.  The understanding is that there is a high likelihood of HAHO suspending all clinical teaching within all Hospital Authority compounds any time from now for the purpose of safeguarding the health and safety of all parties.  The Faculty would like students to be aware of such unfortunate development and the possibility that class suspension may happen even before the end of the current rotation.

We understand that resumption of clinical teaching has been scheduled for next week, 20 July 2020.  The Faculty is working with clinical departments to explore alternative arrangements, if possible.  The T&L Deanery would meet with students again via Zoom for a briefing on the related arrangements.  Details will be announced in due course.

I know this is frustrating, if not devastating, to you all.  Rest assured that we will do our best to assist your progression in MBBS.  Please stay tuned for updates, and take good care, mind and body.

Yours sincerely,

Professor Gilberto Leung
Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning)
