HA Health Data Collaboration Projects


Hospital Authority Data Collaboration Lab (HADCL) is inviting applications for 2024 Health Data Collaboration Projects which offer access to de-identified health data of more than 25 years, AI and Machine Learning Platform, and data domain experts from the Hospital Authority for big data/AI research.

The assessment of the proposals for the health data collaboration projects will be based on the following criteria:

  • For public good
  • Readiness of requested data and tools

 

Interested researchers may submit their applications for Data Collaboration Project via Application webpage on or before 15 January 2024 (Mon), and visit the FAQ webpage for some tips of proposal submission. More information could be found in Data Collaboration Project.

Application and access procedures

  1. Interested researchers of HKU's teams are required to send the completed confidentiality undertaking and HA's remote access application form to HA (email: hadcl@ha.org.hk) for review and approval; HA will then send the list to the Faculty Office for further booking arrangement.
  2. The access period will start within 7-10 working days upon HA's approval, and until the end of the project period.
  3. The Faculty Office will notify successful applicants for remote access to book access to HKU-HADCL via the Online Booking System; the earliest available access date in the system will be 5 working days counting from the date of booking. There will be no limitation set on the maximum number of access days within the access period, but HA only allows up to two (2) remote access quotas per day for each collaboration project.
  4. The Online Booking System assigns specific computer within remote site to applicant and allows site access during specified timeslots; unique login to the assigned computer will be generated.
  5. HA creates database logins and informs successful applicants directly.
  6. Successful applicants will be required to bring their staff/student card to the Faculty Office, 6/F, William MW Mong Block, Sassoon Road 21 for registration during the assigned timeslot. Your staff/student card will be kept by the Faculty Office until you sign out.

Non-HKU researchers of HKU's teams participating in HA Health Data Collaboration Projects who would like to access to HKU-HADCL should contact HKU-HADCL Office at hadcl@hku.hk in advance and our colleagues will help book the relevant time slots in the system. When making such request, non-HKU researchers are required to first provide proof of identity and as a current HA Health Data Collaboration Project user, and will be required to sign-in at the Faculty Office on the day(s) of access.
